About the opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Associate in the Authorities Liaison Office. This position entails ensuring transparent and compliant communication with external regulators, maintaining an up-to-date understanding of regulatory developments, and coordinating regulatory engagements across N26. The objectives of the team are: 

    • Ensuring Compliance: To guarantee that N26’s corporate governance practices are in full compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, in particular with regards to proper documentation of key decision-making processes. 
    • Regulatory and Supervisory Communication: Providing the framework and monitoring communication with supervisory authorities in Germany and the core markets of N26
    • Regulatory Project Management: Support key strategic initiatives related to the implementation of regulatory requirements, ensuring that N26 is staying ahead of the curve with regards to its compliance obligations.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all communications with German regulatory bodies.
  • Manage German Banking Act (KWG) related registrations and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare briefing documents for C-Level executives, focusing on regulatory topics.
  • Support the Management Board, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and Chief Regulatory Officer (CRegO) in preparing issue papers and briefing documents.
  • Support special projects within the CRO and CRegO areas that further the relationship with our regulators and strengthen N26’s overall regulatory compliance..
  • Coordinate and manage meetings with the relevant regulatory bodies and high-level stakeholders
  • Be the owner of all internal procedures and documentation of the Authorities Liaison Office
  • Review communications to the supervisory authorities in Germany and our core markets and actively drive the information sharing process within the organisation to ensure all relevant stakeholders are aware of recent developments.

What you need to be successful:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in compliance or risk functions within regulated financial services firms, fintech companies, or regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, project management  skills.
  • Highly Reliable, structured and diligent approach to work.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and drive resolutions.
  • Deep understanding of the German regulatory environment and key compliance regimes.
  • Familiarity with banking / financial services, particularly in the context of technology and mobile applications.
  • Diligence with regard to internal and external communications, including meeting materials and meeting minutes. 
  • Highly competent at managing workflows and priorities, also when managing multiple projects or meetings at the same time
  • Fluency in both English and German.
